This is Web3 Seems Legit, the newsletter that gives you all the latest dirt in crypto in 5 minutes or less so you don't have to go digging yourself.

In this issue, we're dishing you the details on these stories:

  • AVA Labs gets caught in a shady conspiracy. A whistleblower known as CryptoLeaks releases video clips of law firm Roche Freedman allegedly admitting to suing competitors for AVA Labs. Scandalous.

  • BAYC NFT goes mainstream at the VMA awards. Snoop Dog and Eminem give an iconic performance to remember featuring the Bored Apes Yacht Club NFT. But not everyone was a fan.

  • OpenSea trading volume is down 99%...so they say. Fortune Magazine published a FUD story reporting that the NFT marketplace is down bad.

AVA Labs gets caught in a shady conspiracy

In a "Project Veritas" style leak, incriminating video footage has leaked exposing popular blockchain project, Ava Labs of intentionally colluding with a law firm to sue their competitors.

But not everyone is convinced. Yes, the video clips don't look good, but they could also be edited and taken out of context. Some other conspiracy theorists also think this was leaked by ICP, another fellow blockchain project sued by Ava Labs πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«.

Meanwhile, the accused parties Ava Labs and law firm (Roche Freedman) have put out statements denying the allegations. Our take: just drop the raw, unedited video and put the theories to rest πŸ‘¨β€βš–οΈ.

BAYC NFT goes mainstream at the VMA awards

Whether you liked the performance or thought it was cringe, the fact that two major celebrities promoted NFTs in a live television performance should be a win for us...

But people can be hard to please 🀷.

This goes to show that in web3, the boss in charge is the community 🫑. Keep them happy and you'll win.

OpenSea trading volume is down 99%...so they say

Fortune Magazine recently published an article stating that OpenSea's trading volume is down 99% from all-time high. Sounds bad...except it isn't exactly the whole story πŸ€”.

Be careful of the headlines you read πŸ‘€.
